Now that each buddy team is going out into the wilderness with the High Adventure group, they need a certain amount of training during the first day of their trip.

All youth get trained in :

  1. The setup and tear down of their tent
  2. How the stove works
  3. How to cook- creative ideas for using dried foods
  4. How to pack
  5. Use of their water filter (and what not to lose out of it)
  6. Map and/ or gps reading
  7. Wilderness first aid for 15-18 year olds
  8. Canoeing basics for canoe trip

Trips to the mountains require more cardio training and youth going on them need to walk hills with their packs on for many weeks/months ahead of time. Good preparation and cardio workouts will help ensure a safe, enjoyable trip.
